Let the fun begin!!!

We started building our first section of the puzzle at 7:00pm on Jan 5th, 2011.

We decided to start with section "C" which is the third section on the top from the left.

Sorting colors took about an hour and the organizing of the pieces for the colors we choose to start on took about an hour.  We figure the first section will be the hardest since we don't have a piece pattern to work from.  The remaining sections will be a lot easier.

  1. Very cool. I wonder if the repeating pattern will be every top leftmost 1,000 piece quarter section (of each 4,000 piece bag) will be the same. And then the same for the top right most and bottom left and right most of each bag as well. It will be interesting to see how difficult each quadrant of the first bag is to do. With the amount of like coloring in each picture, I would suspect it will be a much bigger challenge than the Life puzzle. That's one of my favorite parts of the Life puzzle is that there's so much variety in the picture.

  2. Hello from Tokyo, Japan. My husband and I are also trying to assemble the same puzzle. We started our challenge on the 1st of January. As we're not very fast in assembling, we haven't got so far, but we are enjoying the work.
I'm so excited to find that you were the first to complete the former world largest puzzle. I simply admire your accomplishment, and will be looking forward to reading this blog.
Do you mind if I made a link to this blog form ours and introduce this site?
The URL for our blog is http://ameblo.jp/puzzle32256/ (Sorry, but it is all written in Japanese)

  4. I don't think I will be able to attempt a puzzle anywhere near this big for some years (have to start smaller and build up when my kids are older) - but I have really enjoyed reading this blog, and seeing how it took shape! Your willpower and structured approach is inspiring! Thanks for sharing!

  5. I bought this awhile back, and I found it to be quite difficult. Took me about 4 months to finish, but I did only work on it for a couple hours a day. It was a great challenge for me. I wish you guys the best of luck and hours of happiness. As for me, I'm on the hunt for another large piece count jigsaw puzzle.
